Mario Kart and Hot Wheels are teaming up again to bring you a surprise Rainbow Road Raceway pack, which will be available soon.
In terms of a perfect match, Mario Kart and Hot Wheels could be about as good as it gets. This year, Nintendo and Hot Wheels showcased Mario Kart Gliders items to commemorate MAR10 Day. And a few days later, a brand new Mario Kart Hot Wheels item mysteriously showed up on Amazon with very little fan-fare; a Rainbow Road kit.
Mario Kart is one of the most well-known video games company. The Mario Kart series has always done well, with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe being the best-selling title on the Nintendo Switch. Mario and the gang speeding down a real-life Rainbow Road Raceway feels quite normal after years of virtual racing, so the partnership with Hot Wheels makes sense.
On May 29, 2021, Hot Wheels Mario Kart Rainbow Road Raceway will be released. The track has an MSRP of $119.99 and was available for pre-order on Amazon, but it appears to be unavailable right now. The track itself is customizable and can run in a straight line or with different twists and turns. Mario and King Boo are reportedly included in the Hot Wheels Mario Kart Rainbow Road Raceway.
In the world of Mario Kart, Mario has already crossed over into the physical realm, as Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit bridged the gap between toys and video games. The game allowed players to design and establish their own course in real life, similar to a Hot Wheels track, and then race it in the Switch video game. The distinct virtual reality game goes above and beyond what video games have done in the past. Hot Wheels and Mario Kart provide similar experiences, so they’re a good match.
