Time for a new costume?

Mediatonic won the battle royale spin-off contest when it decided to add a game show twist to the genre. There’s no doubt that Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is one of the most popular battle royales, if not multiplayer games, in recent years. Sure, it’s no Fortnite or PUBG, but it’s perfect for those of us who are tired of the endless loop of shooting and looting. If you need more convincing, maybe the fact that it’s the most downloaded PS Plus game of all time might do that trick. But if that still doesn’t do it for you, Guinness World Records has also recognised this feat.

How many times have you watched an obstacle course based game show and thought that you’d easily make it through faster than the overenthusiastic contestants? Well, Fall Guys gave us that opportunity, and boy, did a lot of people take it. The adorable character design of the in-game contestants and cute costumes were also a huge plus.

The record setting achievement was announced via the official Fall Guys Twitter handle. With new seasons and content coming out on a fairly regular basis, it doesn’t seem like Mediatonic is going to give up that title anytime soon.

The battle-royale angle isn’t the only thing that Mediatonic borrowed from the likes of Fortnite, it has also been adding guest characters to the game via costumes. For instance, the recent collaboration with Kena: Bridge Of Spirits gave us Kena and Rot themed costumes. While it’s a bit too late to grab the Rot costume, Kena will be available till tomorrow; you can get the top and bottom half for five Crowns each.

A number of Fall Guys costumes were leaked earlier this year. So far, we’ve already got the Ratchet and Clank, and Kena and Rot costumes that the leak indicated. Assuming that the rest of the information is correct, we’ll soon see the likes of Astrobot, Sackboy, Guy, and Ana Spelunky getting the Fall Guys treatment.

The Xbox and Switch version has unfortunately been delayed indefinitely. The team announced it needed a bit more time to get features like cross-play functioning properly.
